The team recently undertook a site clearance Canterbury, well just outside of Canterbury. A village called Chartham. The site is reasonably well known one as it used to provide jobs for the local community. The site was Chartham Paper Mill a 26 acre site that had been left for vegetation to take hold.

There is the main industrial sites then the cottages that some of the employees used to live in. When undertaking the clearance around the cottages it was basically an overgrown garden clearance Canterbury. Although unlike most garden clearances in Kent we had the luxury of access.

On this occasion the instruction was to leave all the trees. Just manage the vegetation such as brambles, grass and general scrub clearance. As with the majority of site clearances, land clearance and vegetation clearance undertook by us. It had its challenges.

Challenges

Being in Chartham the great stour runs both sides of the paper mill. This meant when undertaking the vegetation clearance next to river banks it was an health and safety nightmare. This is where the remote control flail came into its own. This vital piece of equipment helped us keep our operators at a safe distance from the riverbank while still achieving the clearance needed.

Due to the nature of this site clearance Canterbury not all of it could be done with the remote control flail. This is because of access issues being an industrial site. Pipes, cables and other obstacles the flail couldn’t have gotten too. On these parts our strimmer and chainsaw operatives cleared the way.

Finished result

After this vegetation clearance took place this allowed the new owners to access all the vital parts of the site. Another reason this vegetation clearance was carried out was security. After areas have now been cleared. This allows the owners to construct security fencing that will stop unlawful access to the site.

We cut, cleared and removed all the overgrown trees and shrubs. In amongst the garden was a beautiful snake bark maple which the new home owners didn’t even know was there. We gave it a slight prune to give shape and will now be a centrepiece for the new garden.

The client was pleased with the overgrown garden clearance because not only did the team leave them with a blank canvas for garden design. They now have a beautiful established and somewhat uncommon tree.

This was in turn shading the clients magnolia tree. That used to be the centre piece of their garden, so the decision for the tree removal.

The tree stump was left high for a bird table to be placed on top, as the client had a wood burner so all logs were cut to manageable sizes and stacked neatly.
